Our Mission

GCA Forestry is a family-run business founded by Glen Poland in 2022, built from a lifelong love and passion for wildlife, the countryside and innovative technology.

Before establishing GCA Forestry, Glen spent seven years as the Deer Officer at Ashdown Forest, gaining extensive practical experience in deer management, wildlife monitoring and working within a diverse and challenging landscape. His experience in the field highlighted the importance of accurate wildlife data and effective management, while his passion for wildlife and technology inspired him to start his own business.

Today, GCA Forestry provides professional wildlife surveys, habitat and vegetation mapping, wildlife censuses and wildlife management services. We survey a wide range of species, including deer, bats, birds, wild boar and squirrels, working with landowners, estates, forestry professionals, conservation organisations and environmental projects.

We have a particular passion for combining innovative technology with proven field knowledge. Our use of thermal drone technology allows us to survey wildlife in new and effective ways, helping to improve accuracy, reduce disturbance and provide detailed, evidence-based information to our clients.

Being a family-run business is important to us. Glen's young family share the same passion for wildlife and the natural environment, and this enthusiasm is at the heart of what we do. We believe that a genuine understanding and respect for wildlife is essential to delivering responsible and effective surveying and management.

Our approach is professional, practical and evidence-based, combining years of hands-on experience with modern technology to provide accurate information that helps our clients make informed decisions about wildlife, habitats and land management.

At GCA Forestry, we are passionate about understanding wildlife, protecting the environment and using innovation to continually improve the way wildlife is surveyed and managed.
